International Students

Bishop McGuinness is an F-1 approved school. We accept students from around the world to study with us and share life with us in the security of a Christian American home. We have had students from a variety of countries including Korea, China, Japan, Nigeria, France, Denmark, Switzerland, Italy, Russia, Germany, Mexico, Columbia, Peru, Ecuador, Spain.

Tuition & Fees

Rates for the 2020-2021 school year, once adopted by the Board and Diocese of Charlotte, are available in early February 2020. See below for our current tuition and fees description for the 2019-2020 Academic Year.

Financial Aid

Financial Aid Applications will be available November 1, 2019.

We use FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment to conduct individual family’s financial need analysis. Applications and supporting documentation must be submitted to FACTS Grant & Aid Assessment, through the link below. If you have questions or concerns about the application process, you may speak with a FACTS Customer Care Representative at 866-441-4637.

K-12 Scholarship Grants

North Carolina offers three programs that expand school choice for eligible students in kindergarten through 12th grade. The Opportunity Scholarship, Disabilities Grant, and Education Savings Account can cover tuition and required fees at a participating nonpublic school. In addition, the Disabilities Grant and Education Savings Account can cover certain other expenses related to educating a child with a disability. The award amounts, eligibility requirements, and application timelines differ. Opportunity Scholarship Program

The Opportunity Scholarship Program expands school choice in North Carolina through scholarship grants for eligible children in Kindergarten through 12th grade. This program provides funding of up to $4,200 per year for eligible children who choose to attend a participating nonpublic school.

Disabilities Grant Program

The Disabilities Grant Program is a program for eligible students with disabilities in Kindergarten through 12th grade to provide an option for parents to pay tuition, fees, and some other expenses at a participating school or homeschool.

Education Savings Account (ESA)

The Education Savings Account (ESA) is a program for eligible students with disabilities in Kindergarten through 12th grade to provide an option for parents to pay tuition, fees, and some other expenses at a participating nonpublic school or homeschool.

Visit & Engage

We invite all students and parents to visit and see firsthand what our school has to offer. Whether it is an open house, a shadow visit or a personalized tour, come see what the Bishop experience is all about!

Open Houses

We will start with a 9:00 am presentation, then followed by group tours.
January 23, 2020

Shadow Visit

We require that all students that are not enrolled in one of our Catholic Middle schools spend a ½ day at Bishop shadowing a member of our school community. The shadow visit might be the most important piece in your high school selection process.

Personalized Tour

Students are paired with a student of similar background and interests. Our guests follow the schedule of their guide to classes and lunch ($3.75). Dress Code for Male and Females – Collared shirt (any color); khaki or dark pants; dress shoes or tennis shoes.

Shadow days are scheduled Monday through Thursday from November-April. Students typically spend a half-day and should expect to begin or end their day with lunch.

Application Checklist

  • Application online and a non-refundable fee of $130 must be submitted.
  • A transcript request form and discipline form signed and delivered to your current school. The Parish Participation Voucher is required of Roman Catholic applicants desiring the Catholic tuition rate. Complete the form and submit to your parish office.

Applicants and their parents will have the opportunity to tour the school, attend a class and interview with a member of the admission staff. Please call Admissions, 564-1011, for an appointment.

Admission letters are mailed out in mid-March.

On-Line Application Instructions

  • Please click the “Log in to start”
  • If you have yet to start an application, create a user account by clicking “New User Registration”.
  • Select your relationship to the applicant and begin the application.
  • Always SAVE form and continue (bottom right) to move through the application.
  • Complete the on-line application and submit application along with online credit card payment ($110 fee non-refundable).
  • Print and submit the Transcript request form and Discipline form to your current school.
  • The Parish Participation Voucher is required of Roman Catholic applicants desiring the Catholic tuition rate. Complete the form and submit to your parish office who will mail it to Bishop McGuinness.
  • The forms can be downloaded on the last page of the application or at the application procedure page of bmhs.us.
  • After you complete the application, you may print a copy for you records.
  • Please allow 3-4 business day for processing of your application.

The Admissions Committee will consider applications at the conclusion of the first semester once all information listed above has been received. Consideration for admission is based upon standardized test scores, placement tests, grades, and disciplinary profile.

With notification of acceptance, a non-refundable $170 registration fee is due. Until this fee is received a student is not officially entered on the roster for the school year. You will also receive information on the registration date(s) for selecting classes, and bus registration.
